On March 7th, the Embassy of Bangladesh invited members of the Brazilian press for a dinner to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. March 7, 1973 is a special date for the people of Bangladesh, as it was on this date that the Father of the Nation delivered an impactful and historic speech on the country’s destiny. Other reasons for the event were the continuation of the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and also the achievement of a new milestone for the country, being considered nowadays a developing country.
The event took place at the embassy, located in the Lago Sul neighborhood of Brasília. The guests were received by the ambassador of Bangladesh to Brazil, Her Excellency, Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa and her husband, Mr. Michael Patrick Winter , as well as other diplomats and embassy attachés.
Upon the arrival of the guests, the celebration began with a speech by the Head of Chancellery of the Embassy of Bangladesh, Ms. Samia Ronee, who thanked everyone for coming and explained the importance of the date for the people of Bangladesh. She then invited the Ambassador, Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa, to lead the tribute by diplomats and attachés from the embassy of Bangladesh to the Father of the Nation, Mr. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. His image received a flower decoration placed by the ambassador and her husband and was honored by the diplomats and defense attaché of the embassy.
Also as part of the tribute, Bangladeshi Armed Forces Sergeant Mr. Mizanur Rahman, conducted a special prayer with recitation from the Holy Quran. Then Counsellor Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun read out the special messages received from the Honorable President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Then, the ambassador, Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa, gave a speech on the evolution of her country, based on the historic speech of the Father of the Nation. The ambassador highlighted important information that reflects the growth of Bangladesh, following a strategic plan prepared by her government to lead the country to the place of economically and socially developed nations. Her speech was greatly applauded by those present.
After the ambassador’s speech, journalists watched a video about the historic March 7, 1971 speech given by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The embassy also provided each journalist with a copy of the printed speech.
Journalists and media outlet professionals were then invited to enjoy a special dinner with typical Bangladeshi cuisine, served in the social area of the embassy. Guests congratulated Ambassador Ms. Sadia Faizunnesa and the other diplomats and attachés for the success of the event and for that country being an example of economic growth under efficient government planning.
