The Embassy of South Africa organized on November 13 a cocktail reception hosted by the President of that country, Mr. Cyrill Ramaphosa for the African Heads of Missions in Brasilia.
The event took place in the beginning of the afternoon, when South Africa’s ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Ntsiki Mashimbe, welcomed African ambassadors as well as journalists from various media outlets to cover the event.
As soon as they arrived, the diplomats were greeted with a beautiful performance in the front yard of the embassy, by the Batalar musical group, known for being formed by women playing drums and percussion instruments. After the presentation, the guests went to the embassy’s social halls and open air areas.
After everyone’s arrival, President of South Africa, Mr. Cyrill Ramaphosa, arrived at the embassy from one of the events organized by the BRICS meeting that was taking place in Brazil in that week. The president greeted all African ambassadors and then, the ambassador of South Africa in Brazil, Mr. Ntsiki Mashimbye, gave a speech welcoming President Ramaphosa and thanking for the presence of the African ambassadors. He announced the speech of the head of the Group of African Embassies in Brazil, Ambassador of Cameroun, Mr. Martin Mbeng, which also gave a welcoming speech to President Ramaphosa, underscoring the importance of unity between the countries of the African group and the development of relations between these countries and Brazil. Next, the President of South Africa, Mr Cyrill Ramaphosa, delivered a speech in which he thanked Ambassadors Mashimbye and Mbeng for their beautiful words and also highlighted the growing development of the countries of Africa and their increasingly prominent presence in the international scenario. All speeches were widely applauded by all.
Then, everyone watched a musical performance by a group of Brazilian musicians. President Cyrill Ramaphosa admired the beautiful musical performance and personally thanked everyone for the performance.
The guests went to the embassy dining room and everyone enjoyed a lunch served with Brazilian and South African cuisine.
The atmosphere of joy and fellowship was striking at the event and everyone greeted the president of South Africa, Mr. Cyrill Ramaphosa, the ambassador of that country in Brazil, Mr. Ntsiki Mashimbye and other South African diplomats and attachés for the success of the event.
