The work of Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes—two of the greatest names in Brazilian music—inspires the TOM E VINÍCIOS project season, running until October 11 at the Clube do Choro, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) Brasília, and Eixão Norte avenue (Asa Norte). By bringing together artists from different generations, the project revisits the duo’s repertoire and highlights their deep connection to the world of choro, a genre fundamental to the development of Brazilian popular music. The initiative is presented by CCBB Brasília, produced by the Escola Brasileira de Choro, and endorsed by the Clube do Choro.
Audiences will experience musical encounters that reveal diverse interpretations of the work of Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. More than just celebrating songs that defined the history of Brazilian music, the season offers a look at the influences that shaped the duo’s work, bringing the public closer to the roots of choro and its contribution to the creation of Bossa Nova and modern Brazilian song.
“The music of Tom and Vinicius is part of the emotional memory of Brazilians. The project proposes a reconnection with this repertoire through its origins, showing how choro helped build this musical language and how these songs continue to move and inspire new generations of artists and audiences. Beyond celebrating two great composers, we want to create an experience of listening, discovery, and appreciation for our music,” notes Mr. Henrique Neto, the project’s musical director and creator.
Each weekend, the performances will begin with an instrumental set by Regional Choro Livre, accompanied by the Vento e Verso wind trio and percussion. This lineup sets the tone for the tribute to Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes and reinforces the presence of choro as the unifying thread of the entire season. Throughout the project, *Tom e Vinicius* will host various artists for encounters specially conceived for the project, dedicated to revealing different interpretations of the duo’s work.
