On September 3rd, the Ministry of Defense held the “Brazilian Defense Day – Embassies 2026” event. Hosted at the Superior Defense School (ESD) in Brasília (DF), the event aimed to foster closer ties between companies within the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base (BID) and representatives from the diplomatic corps of 51 countries and the European Union. The goal is to expand opportunities for international cooperation and business.
Coordinated by the Secretariat for Defense Products (Seprod), the event featured presentations by companies showcasing their key capabilities, products, and solutions. Ambassadors from the following countries were in attendance: Botswana, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Congo-Brazzaville, Côte d’Ivoire, Slovakia, Slovenia, Georgia, Luxembourg, Namibia, Senegal, Sudan, and Vietnam.
At the opening of the event, the Secretary for Defense Products, Mr. Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, highlighted that the Brazilian BID comprises diverse companies and a portfolio of high-tech products. He also noted the publication of Ministry of Defense Ordinance No. 1.456/2026, which regulates the ministry’s role in government-to-government (gov-to-gov) export processes.
Attendees included Deputy Secretary-General Miguel Ragone de Mattos; the Commander of the Superior Defense School, Major-Brigadier Laerte Lobato de Moraes; Deputy Secretary for Defense Products Juliana Ribeiro Larenas; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Diplomat to the ESD, Ambassador George Torquato Firmeza; among other civil and military officials.
