The traditional after carnival party “Baile da Ressaca do Suvaco da Asa” takes place this Saturday, February 24 at Aruc (Cruzeiro Velho). The party at the Samba school’s ballroom wraps up the carnival celebrations.
The group Afoxé Omó Ayó will do the traditional washing of the Aruc’s ballroom in a presentation that blends Afro-Brazilian music, dances and traditions of African matrix. The group Patubatê is also in the program. In the repertoire, there are classics of the Brazilian Carnival, especially rhythms from Pernambuco. Cirandas, maracatus and ijexás are part of the songs chosen for the presentation.
Drummer Téo Monteiro is in the line up as well, bringing the power of maracatu to the party. Wrapping up the evening, the all-women group Filhas de Oyá shows its unique sound.
