The Portuguese Language Day is on May 9. The date will be celebrated by the Embassy of Portugal in Brasília alongside the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), with the purpose of promoting the sense of community and pluralism of Portuguese speakers. Portuguese is the fifth most spoken language in the world, the third most spoken in the Western Hemisphere and the most spoken in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Camões – Portuguese Cultural Center in Brasília and Cátedra Agostinho da Silva promote a literary meeting with the writers João Pinto Coelho (Portugal) and Dany Wambire (Mozambique).

They will talk about topics related to the Portuguese Language, their literary trajectories and the books they have published. There will be a panel, with the mediation of Prof. Dr Lúcia Helena Ribeiro from the Department of Literary Theory and Literatures of the University of Brasília (UNB).
