A grand celebration is underway in Brazil’s capital as Brasília turns 65. Under the theme “The Best Time is Now”, the Federal District Government (GDF) has organized five days of free cultural and entertainment programming, from Thursday, April 17, through Monday, April 21.
Throughout the extended weekend, residents and visitors alike will enjoy complimentary public transportation through the “Vai de Graça” (Ride for Free) program. Additionally, Governor Ibaneis Rocha announced free entry on Sundays and holidays to two of Brasília’s most beloved attractions: the Brasília Zoo and the Botanical Garden.
The main festivities will take place on the Esplanade of Ministries (Esplanada dos Ministérios), where a large stage with LED screens, a catwalk, VIP areas, a kids and pet zone, a Ferris wheel, a zipline, and a food court will be set up to welcome thousands. The entertainment lineup spans multiple genres, including frevo, axé, traditional and contemporary sertanejo (Brazilian country music), and more.
