The institution Itaú Cultural launched, on Thursday (December 16th), an exhibition Films and videos by artists in the Itaú Cultural collection in an online version. There are 21 films produced between 1970 and the 2000s that address Brazil’s memories and sociopolitical themes.
After exhibiting parts from the collection in ten Brazilian cities, the complete exhibition reaches the virtual universe. Experimental films had been produced since 1970, but remained on the sidelines of the public for decades until they began to be exhibited in the 1990s. The new presentation of the exhibition has an about section, accessibility in Brazilian sign language, audio testimonies and connection to the Itaú Cultural encyclopedia, which contains information about the artists.
The online version includes a tour along a route divided into four thematic centers. Virtual environments were created with different colors to separate the themes. In the lilac environment, “O corpo como metáfora” (The Body as Metaphor), the works reflect on the audiovisual as a means of discoveries; in the blue environment, “Poética da visualidade” (Poetics of Visualities) houses works from the last 20 years that explore the poetic and dreamlike side of image and sound; the green environment, “Cultura e Política: Identidades” (Culture and politics: identities), has a strong socio-political discourse on Brazil; the pink environment, “Memória e Subjetividade” (Memory and Subjectivity), brings together themes such as memories, dreams, affection and fantasy.

A nova apresentação da mostra conta com seção sobre, acessibilidade em língua brasileira de sinais, depoimentos em áudio e conexão com a enciclopédia Itaú Cultural, que contém informações sobre os artistas.
A versão online inclui um passeio ao longo de um percurso dividido em quatro centros temáticos. Ambientes virtuais foram criados com cores diferentes para separar os temas. No ambiente lilás, “O corpo como metáfora”, as obras refletem sobre o audiovisual como meio de descobertas; no ambiente azul, a “Poética da visualidade” abriga obras dos últimos 20 anos que exploram o lado poético e onírico da imagem e do som; o ambiente verde, “Cultura e Política: Identidades”, tem um forte discurso sociopolítico sobre o Brasil; o ambiente rosa, “Memória e Subjetividade”, reúne temas como memórias, sonhos, carinho e fantasia.
