Journalists from several Brazilian media outlets attended the Embassy of India in the early afternoon of February 14 to participate in the Media Outreach Event, a meeting promoted by diplomats from the embassy in Brasília and the consulate of India in São Paulo, in which information about that beautiful country were presented.

The event had the press office of journalist Fabiana Ceyhan and aimed to give Brazilian journalists a perspective on the economic development of India and the investment opportunities for Brazilian government and companies in that country.

After the arrival of journalists, the event started. The Chargé d’Affaires a. i. of the embassy, ​​Mr. Shri S. Koventhan, welcomed everyone and gave an overview of India-Brazil relations, also addressing the highlights and important details of the recent visit of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro to India, and also about the presence of India in the BRICS summit in 2019. An audiovisual production of those diplomatic events was shown to the public.

The Consul General of India in São Paulo, Mr. Shri Amit Kumar Mishra, gave a presentation on investment opportunities in India and also highlighted the various social assistance programs and development activities adopted by the country.

The Second Secretary, Dr. Arjun Deore, also spoke to the audience and gave a presentation on the prospects for the Indian economy and highlighted the main characteristics of the Economic Survey recently released to the press.

At the event, information was also released about ITEC courses (MEA classes), Yoga and Hindi organized by the embassy, ​​in addition to the celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th anniversary that took place last year.

After the presentations on India’s economic data, journalists were invited to enjoy a lunch with typical dishes of that beautiful Asian country.

The event was very well received by Brazilian journalists, who thanked the embassy for the opportunity to get to know India better, its economic potential and its beauty, very well presented by the team of host diplomats. Journalists also received gifts and  books about India.
