The Ambassador of India to Brazil, Mr. Suresh Reddy, held a farewell gathering in honor of the diplomat R. Venugopal and his wife Suja on the night of April 28th, 2022.
The event took place at the Embassy of India and was attended by diplomats, businessmen, academics, Yoga and Indian dance professionals and members of the Indian community in Brasilia, as well as personalities from Brasilia’s society.

The event was held in the open-air areas of the Ambassy and also in the dining room of the official residence, where a buffet of typical foods was prepared by the Embassy’s Chef. The guests socialized in an atmosphere of joy for fraternization and a little melancholy at the departure of Mr. R. Venugopal, which took place on the 1st of May.
After the guests arrived, a series of testimonies began from people who wanted to attest to the exemplary professionalism, character, friendship and affection shown by Mr. R. Venugopal during the time he was in Brazil. The admiration of all was unanimous and demonstrated the example of professionalism during his career and of a caring human being, friend and adviser to everyone.

Miss Brenda Seixas, Media Assistant at the Embassy of India, conducted the statements and did a very good translation English – Portuguese.
Members of the Embassy and friends praised Mr. R. Venugopal.
The ambassador delivered a speech praising Mr. R. Venugopal for the example of professionalism shown at the embassy. He then invited Mr. Venugopal with his wife to speak words to the guests. Mr. Venugopal thanked everyone for the beautiful farewell and said he really enjoyed his years in Brazil. He praised the country and said he will miss everything and everyone. He was greatly applauded by everyone. The ambassador delivered to Mr. Venugopal a plaque in honor of the good services rendered to his country. Then the ambassador invited everyone to a dinner specially prepared for that occasion.
Mr. R. Venugopal thanked everyone for the affection received.
Guests enjoyed the great Indian food and thanked Ambassador Reddy for organizing the beautiful event. In the end, everyone said goodbye to Mr. R. Venugopal and his friendly wife Suja.
Mr. R. Venugopal retires after more than 30 years of service in the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He and his lovely wife Suja make a beautiful couple and will enjoy a well-deserved retirement in India.

The President of THE GUIDE, Mr. Pedro Paulo Moreira, was at the event and also said words of thanks for the support and friendship shown by Mr. R. Venugopal during his time in Brazil. “Having been friends with Mr. R. Venugopal was a great privilege. My admiration for his person echoes the opinion of everyone here. He is an example of a diplomat to be followed. He showed high-level professionalism, combining joy, solidarity and friendship with everyone around him. I wish him a well-deserved happy retirement,” said Mr. Moreira.
