On September 2, 2024, the Embassy of Türkiye in Brasília held a ceremony to celebrate Victory Day, a Turkish national holiday marking the 102nd anniversary of the victory at the Battle of Dumlupınar, a significant milestone in Turkish history. The event was attended by military attachés and other prominent figures from the diplomatic corps and Brazilian government.
Defense Attachés, diplomats, Brazilian authorities and members of Brasilia’s society were at the event.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Brazil and Turkey, followed by the reading of a letter from the President of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who congratulated the attendees on that significant date. The Defense Attaché, Colonel Yarbay Ensar Öztürk, also delivered a speech, which was followed by a video showcasing Turkey’s military strength.

Subsequently, the Turkish ambassador, Mr. Halil Íbrahim Akça, gave a speech highlighting the importance of Victory Day for the Turkish nation. After the speeches, a dinner was served featuring a variety of traditional Turkish dishes, including tables of sweets and savory items. In the open air area a special station offered Turkish kebab sandwiches.

The event provided an opportunity for cultural celebration and the strengthening of diplomatic ties between Turkey and Brazil.
