CAIXA Cultural Brasília will display, from January 13 to March 3, from Tuesday to Sunday, the exhibition “Jorge Fonseca – Labirinto de Amor” (Maze of Love).
The exhibition presents 20 works produced between 1998 and 2018, which give a new meaning to objects of the collective imagination and point out breaches of affection in simple everyday things. Almost all the works are from the collection of the artist himself, they tell a little about the trajectory of this self-taught artist from Minas Gerais, who was a train driver and carpenter for more than 15 years.
The unique creations mix craft, conceptual art, pop, kitsch, and bring a strong contemporary attitude that strike the criticism of human relationships. Mr. Fonseca gives another reading to common materials, fabrics, haberdashery or simple objects that forms the imagination of many people.
