The exhibition ” Oscar Niemeyer – Territórios da Criação “ (Oscar Niemeyer – Territories of Creation) can be visited at Espaço Cultural Marcantonio Vilaça until June 9, with original drawings and sketches of the architect, paintings, moving sculptures, the Magazines Módulo and Nosso Caminho, as well as rare manuscripts.
According to the curator of the exhibition, Marcus de Lontra Costa, the collected material presents a synthesis of works created by the architect that exceed the horizons of his professional performance, with emphasis on all his creative capacity. Niemeyer developed a sophisticated artistic strategy that surpassed the limits of architecture and served as the basis for defining a national aesthetic thought, innovative and surprising. The exhibition reveals the mastery, talent and intelligence of our greatest artist. To bring together this significant set of works is to allow the re-encounter with forms and volumes that underpin the Brazilian identity.
The exhibition is complemented by a vast documental material, especially referring to the magazine Módulo, a publication that Oscar Niemeyer created and which reached the surprising mark of one hundred editions.
