The Defense Product Secretariat – SEPROD (Secretaria de Produtos de Defesa) of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense had many activities in LAAD including bilateral meetings focused on networking, the development of solutions, and business opportunities in favor of the Defense Industrial Base (BID).

The Defense Product Secretariat – SEPROD supports the BID by operating on several fronts. During LAAD, bilateral meetings are being held between interested companies and key agencies that offer products related to financing and guarantees, both for their production lines and for exports.

As planned, meetings were held between representatives of the Defense Bank, IMBEL, and EMGEPRON.

The occasion allowed for the clarification of doubts and the customization of financial solutions tailored to the main specificities, demands, and challenges faced by companies.

Mauritania

Also on April 1st, Brazil and Mauritania signed a Framework Agreement on Defense Cooperation. The document was signed by Brazil’s Minister of Defense, José Mucio Monteiro Filho, and the Minister of Defense, Affairs of Pensioners, and Martyrs’ Children of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Hanana Ould Sidi.

The agreement provides for collaboration between the two countries in research, development, logistical support, acquisition of defense products and services, and the sharing of knowledge acquired in military operations, including peacekeeping missions.

It also establishes the exchange of information, scientific and technological cooperation, military training and instruction, as well as joint exercises and operations.

The partnership extends to strengthening the defense industry and other strategic areas of mutual interest.

Also in attendance were the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire; the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Luiz Henrique Pochyly da Costa; the Secretary of Defense Products, Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues; among other authorities.

 

Italy

Minister of Defense José Mucio met with the Italian delegation to discuss strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries. The Undersecretary of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Matteo Perego Di Cremnago, reaffirmed Italy’s interest in expanding the partnership, highlighting commercialization opportunities in the space, naval, and land sectors, especially in ammunition and armored vehicles.

The meeting also addressed the Brazilian aircraft KC-390, a model that meets the technical and operational requirements of NATO’s European Air Forces. Finally, there is an expectation that members of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense will travel to Italy later in 2025, which will allow for closer cooperation between the countries.

 

Sweden

Minister of Defense José Mucio met with Sweden’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Peter Sandwall, and his delegation to discuss bilateral cooperation in defense. Sweden announced authorization for the purchase of four C-390 Millennium aircraft, produced by EMBRAER, reinforcing the partnership between the two countries.

The Swedish official emphasized that this acquisition represents a deepening of the strategic relationship between Brazil and Sweden.

Minister José Mucio stated that the commitment made reflects the mutual trust in the technology developed jointly.

 

Israel

The Deputy Secretary for Defense Products, Juliana Larenas, received a presentation from representatives of SIBAT (a government agency under Israel’s Ministry of Defense) explaining how the government-to-government (Gov2Gov) negotiation mechanism works in the country, along with explanations regarding joint venture initiatives between Israeli and Brazilian defense companies.

The occasion included discussions on experiences and the potential for future meetings to deepen a possible partnership. Israel’s expertise may contribute to the creation of a similar organization in Brazil and the development of technological opportunities in the defense sector.
