In celebration of Brasilia’s anniversary, the exhibition brings together more than 60 works featuring landscapes and iconic monuments of the Federal Capital. The show runs from April 14th to 30th at Liberty Mall.
In Brasilia, the sun rises with commitment. 365 days a year, it illuminates wide spaces, modern lines and open horizons. And it is precisely this light – abundant, golden, symbolic – that guides the exhibition Brasilia – 65 laps around the Sun, a tribute to the 65th anniversary of the Federal Capital. The exhibition brings together more than 60 photographs that portray the city’s monumental architecture, public spaces and everyday beauty from different angles of the sun.
The idea for the exhibition came from a partnership between photographer João Paulo Barbosa and the gallery Da Natureza ao Seu Lar Fine Art, curated by Márcio Oliveira, also from Brasilia. The exhibition highlights emblematic monuments such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Itamaraty, JK Bridge, National Theatre, Museum of the Republic and Paranoá Lake, as well as surprising close-ups of the sunset and the luminosity that bathes the city’s open spaces.
João Paulo Barbosa, a photographer from Brasilia who graduated from the University of Brasilia, has a career spanning more than 25 years. He has participated in more than 100 exhibitions in Brazil and abroad and has had his work awarded by institutions such as National Geographic, Patagon Journal, Memorial Maria Luisa and the Banff Centre. He is the author of the project Brasilia National Park 50 years and the book Far from the coast, in the heart of the Cerrado, as well as being part of collections such as the Moreira Salles Institute, the Photography Museum of Fortaleza, the Chamber of Deputies and the Smithsonian Institution.
Márcio Oliveira, the exhibition’s curator, is an avowed lover of photographs of the city and with the exhibition he proposes an emotional connection with Brasília, awakening in the public the pride of belonging to a place that is a symbol of modernity, art and diversity.

Em comemoração ao aniversário de Brasília, a exposição reúne mais de 60 obras com paisagens e monumentos icônicos da Capital Federal. A mostra ocorre de 14 a 30 de abril, no Liberty Mall.
Em Brasília, o sol nasce com compromisso. São 365 dias por ano iluminando espaços amplos, linhas modernas e horizontes abertos. E é justamente essa luz — abundante, dourada, simbólica — que guia a exposição Brasília: 65 voltas ao redor do Sol, uma homenagem aos 65 anos da Capital Federal. A mostra reúne mais de 60 fotografias que retratam a arquitetura monumental, os espaços públicos e a beleza cotidiana da cidade sob diferentes ângulos do sol brasiliense.
A ideia da exposição surgiu da parceria entre o fotógrafo João Paulo Barbosa e a galeria Da Natureza ao Seu Lar Fine Art, com curadoria do também brasiliense Márcio Oliveira. A exposição destaca monumentos emblemáticos como a Catedral Metropolitana, Itamaraty, Ponte JK, Teatro Nacional, Museu da República e o Lago Paranoá, além de closes surpreendentes do pôr do sol e da luminosidade que banha os espaços abertos da cidade.
Fotógrafo brasiliense formado pela Universidade de Brasília, João Paulo Barbosa tem mais de 25 anos de carreira, participou de mais de 100 exposições no Brasil e exterior e teve obras premiadas por instituições como National Geographic, Patagon Journal, Memorial Maria Luisa e Banff Centre. É o autor do projeto Parque Nacional de Brasília 50 anos e do livro Longe do litoral, no coração do Cerrado, além de fazer parte de acervos como o do Instituto Moreira Salles, Museu da Fotografia de Fortaleza, Câmara dos Deputados e Smithsonian Institution.
Márcio Oliveira, curador da exposição, é um apaixonado declarado por fotografias da cidade e propõe com a exposição uma conexão afetiva com Brasília, despertando no público o orgulho de pertencer a um lugar que é símbolo de modernidade, arte e diversidade.
