Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Brazil, Mr. Ali Abdullah Bahitham, and his wife, Mrs. Ibtesam Saeed Badhrees

 

Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Ali Abdullah Bahitham, received dozens of guests at his residence on the night of November 18th to celebrate the meeting of leaders of the G20 Summit based in his country, the first Arab country to host this important event.

Among the guests there were foreign ambassadors, journalists, members of the Arab community in Brazil and members of the Brazilian government. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mr. Ernesto Henrique Fraga Araújo, attended the event and congratulated the ambassador and his country for organizing the G20 summit.

The ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ali Abdullah Bahitham, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the G20 Summit.

 

Saudi Arabia has a strong diplomatic and commercial relationship with Brazil, its main partner in Latin America.
The G20 Summit took place on the 21st and 22nd of November and had the virtual participation of 19 leaders from the largest global economies, as well as the European Union.
The event had an opening speech by Saudi king Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The theme of this edition of the G20 Summit was “Implementing 21st Century Opportunities for Everyone”.

G20 is an abbreviation for the Group of 20. The group was created in 1999, after the successive financial crises of the 1990s, with the objective of favoring international negotiation, integrating the principle of an expanded dialogue, taking into account the growing economic weight of some countries, which together represent 90% of world GDP, 80% of world trade and two thirds of the world population.
