The film “Contra o Mundo” (Boy Kills World) has arrived in Brazilian cinemas, bringing a story of revenge with lots of action in a future of authoritarianism and violence.
Bill Skarsgård stars as “Boy,” who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty who left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless.
Driven by his inner voice, which he borrowed from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is released on the eve of the annual slaughter of dissidents.
When Boy causes bloody martial arts chaos, inciting a wrath of carnage, he joins a resistance group.
