The Embassy of Spain celebrated the national day of their country on October 11, 2022, holding a big celebration for hundreds of people.
The beautiful event took place at the official residence, in the South Embassy Sector of Brasília and was attended by Brazilian government authorities, foreign ambassadors and diplomats, military attachés, journalists, businessmen and personalities from Brasilia’s society.
Upon entering, guests found a hall with cultural information including a tribute to the famous Spanish artist Diego Velásquez. Large prints of his work “Las Meninas” were placed in the hall and guests took pictures among the famous images. The painter’s work is on display at the Prado Museum in Madrid.

The halls and open air areas of the official residence were beautifully decorated and prepared for the celebration. Big screens showed videos about Spain and musical and dance groups performed during the event.
The anthems of Brazil and Spain were played and then Ambassador Maria Del Mar Fernández-Palacios Carmona gave a speech thanking everyone for their presence and highlighting the strength of Spain as a great partner of Brazil, not only in the economic area, but also in other important areas such as social, culture and education. Her speech was greatly applauded by everyone.
A dinner with the famous Spanish Paella was served and everyone enjoyed the famous gastronomy of Spain.
The grand celebration was also marked by a grand prize draw, including a round trip to Spain.
Ambassador Maria Del Mar Fernández-Palacios Carmona has just arrived in Brazil and her great friendliness has already been noted among the Brazilian authorities and among members of the diplomatic corps. She and the diplomats, attachés and other members of the Embassy of Spain were warmly congratulated on the success of the beautiful celebration. At the end, the guests received informative material about Spain, including its tourism and gastronomy.
