The exhibit Lumière Cineasta presents over 100 short films produced by the “Societé Lumière” between 1895 and 1905. Divided into thematic sessions, these films will be presented with short-, medium-, and feature films by filmmakers from several generations, such as Jean Renoir, Jacques Tati, Harun Farocki, Dziga Vertov, JeanMarie Straub, and Danièle Huillet, among many others. In addition to highlighting the main aspects of the Lumière brothers’ work, this comparative exhibit aims to transversally reassess the history of cinema, exploring continuities between the Lumièrian production and films of different time periods.
The program also features the course “Lumière Filmmaker,” divided into four classes, on February 13, 15, 27, and 29. Prior registration through the email cursolumierecineasta@ gmail.com is required.

A mostra Lumière cineasta apresentará mais de 100 curtas-metragens produzidos pela Societé Lumière entre 1895 e 1905. Divididos em sessões temáticas, os filmes serão apresentados junto a curtas, médias e longas-metragens realizados por outros cineastas de diversas épocas, como Jean Renoir, Jacques Tati, Harun Farocki, Dziga Vertov e Jean-Marie Straub e Danièle Huillet. Além de iluminar os principais aspectos da obra dos irmãos Lumière, essa mostra de caráter comparatista, busca repensar a história do cinema de maneira transversal, explorando continuidades entre a produção lumieriana e filmes de outros períodos.
