The exhibition “Revolutions – Guinea-Bissau, Angola, and Portugal (1969-1974)”, by the renowned Italian photojournalist Uliano Lucas, arrives for the first time in Brasília, being hosted at the Museu Nacional da República.
To mark the fifty years of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, the Museu Nacional da República will host this unique exhibition, which will be on display from May 14th to July 7th. It is the first time that Lucas’ works are being presented in Brazil.
The opening of the exhibition was on May 14th, with the presence of the ambassadors of Italy, Alessandro Cortese, and Portugal, Luís Faro Ramos, along with the curators of the exhibition. The ambassadors expressed their honor in bringing Uliano Lucas’ work to the Brasília public, whose photographs captured unforgettable moments of a crucial historical period for the construction of modern democracies.
On May 15th and 16th, at auditorium 2 of the Museu Nacional da República, the Colloquium “Portraits of the Revolution” will be held, with the participation of the curators and Brazilian scholars. The colloquium will address topics such as the construction of democracy, freedom, and the importance of historical memory. The event is promoted by the Institute of Letters of the University of Brasília, and participation is free, without the need for prior scheduling.

Os embaixadores expressaram sua honra em trazer ao público brasiliense o trabalho de Uliano Lucas, cujas fotografias gravaram momentos inesquecíveis de um período histórico crucial para a construção das democracias modernas.
O evento de abertura será acessível ao público, que terá a oportunidade de desfrutar de visitas guiadas pelos próprios curadores. Além disso, nos dias 15 e 16 de maio, no auditório 2 do Museu Nacional da República, será realizado o Colóquio “Retratos da Revolução”, com a participação dos curadores e acadêmicos brasileiros. O colóquio abordará temas como a construção da democracia, a liberdade e a importância da memória histórica. O evento é promovido pelo Instituto de Letras da Universidade de Brasília e a participação é gratuita, sem necessidade de agendamento prévio.
