During the month of April, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Banco do Brasil Cultural Center – CCBB), in partnership with Google Arts and Culture, will be holding an online exhibition dedicated to the work of famous Brazilian artist Athos Bulcão.
The CCBB will hold exhibitions dedicated to artists linked to the history of Brasilia during the month of the city’s anniversary. The first chosen artist is Athos Bulcão, an artist known for the great diversity and cultural importance of the tile works that mark the capital.
Athos Bulcão was a Brazilian painter, sculptor and designer, in the 1950s, he collaborated with Oscar Niemeyer and other celebrated Brazilian artists with the design of Brasília. For those residing is Brasilia, you can see in person one of his works at the “Igrejinha Nossa Senhora de Fátima”, the church between SQS 307 and 308, Athos Bulcão worked on the design of the patterns present in the iconic tiles which cover the outside of the church.
In the exhibition “100 anos de Athos Bulcão”, more than 300 works are present, including unpublished pieces by contemporary artists influenced by Bulcão. It also displays a panorama that shows the artist’s trajectory in chronological order, passing through national and international influences, such as Portuguese tiles.

Para quem mora em Brasília, é possível ver pessoalmente uma de suas obras na “Igrejinha Nossa Senhora de Fátima”, igreja entre SQS 307 e 308, Athos Bulcão trabalhou no desenho dos padrões presentes nos icônicos azulejos que revestem o exterior da igreja.
Na mostra “100 anos de Athos Bulcão”, estão presentes mais de 300 obras, incluindo peças inéditas de artistas contemporâneos com influência de Bulcão. Apresenta ainda um panorama que mostra a trajetória do artista em ordem cronológica, passando por influências nacionais e internacionais, como a azulejaria portuguesa.
