Everyone was received by the Deputy Head of Mission, Minister Irfan Ullah Khan and the Defense Attaché, General Tariq Naeem Athar.
General Tariq Naeem Athar gave a welcome speech and explained the ongoing need to make public the dramatic situation experienced by the people of Kashmir and Pakistan’s efforts to make the region free from current oppression. A video about the Kashmir situation was shown to the guests.
Journalists received material about the situation, including the following information:
Kashmiri people and Pakistan celebrated the Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th February 2024.
While observing this Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan reiterates unflinching and complete support for the just struggle for independence of the Kashmiri people. This support by Pakistan will continue till the realization of inalienable right to self-determination, as per UN Resolutions, for the Kashmiri People.
The continued oppression has only strengthened the will of the Kashmiris to stand firm in their just struggle.
Pakistan remains committed to peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people. The vision of durable peace and stability in South Asia will remain unrealized without a just and lasting solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. As the military siege of Kashmir has now spanned over two and a half years, the Kashmiris await attention from those who espouse the cause of human dignity to address their plight.
The international community must demand an end to the human rights violations in IIOJK; reversal of the unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019; repeal of draconian laws; unfettered access to UN supervised investigations into cases of extrajudicial executions and; implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Head of Mission, Minister Irfan Ullah Khan, highlighted the importance and responsibility of the media professionals in making the lamentable situation of oppression and injustice experienced by the people of Kashmir increasingly known. Journalists asked questions about the drama in the region and commented on the subject.
After explanations from Minister Khan and General Tariq Naeem Athar, lunch was served and the gathering continued in an atmosphere of solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
