To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the G7 theater group—marked this past August—the comedy “Como Passar em Concurso Público” (How to pass a Civil Service Exam) is back on stage at Teatro La Salle (906 Sul, Asa Sul), with performances every Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 PM.
G7 is a Brasília-based comedy group that has launched shows here that went on to become hits across Brazil! The play “Como Passar em Concurso Público” (How to pass a Civil Service Exam) has enjoyed successful runs in major Brazilian capitals, drawing huge crowds and packing out leading theaters in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The show won over the entire country, earning the troupe three appearances on the talk show hosted by the actor, comedian, and writer Jô Soares; attracting over 500,000 audience members, and securing a special place in the history of Brazilian theater.
About the play
“Como Passar em Concurso Público” (How to pass a Civil Service Exam) tells the story of José Brasil, a dedicated exam-taker (*concurseiro*) striving to pass the test. “Concurseiro” is the Portuguese term for someone who studies constantly to pass the entrance exams for Brazil’s civil service. From birth, Zé Brasil is urged to become a judicial technician. The show navigates every stage of this Herculean task: family pressure, moments of doubt, religious devotion—in short, all the obstacles overcome to land that long-dreamed-of position. But was that truly his heart’s desire?
The play aims to reveal the secret so coveted by a large portion of the Brazilian population that dreams of passing a civil service exam. It offers 10 valuable tips that show the path to success, such as: “When in doubt, mark the correct answer!” or “When you’re off duty, study the subjects you enjoy the most.” Beyond the humor, the play also addresses everyday themes, featuring scenes that depict family dynamics, work, and studies—situations that resonate with the lives of all Brazilians.
A History of Success!
“So, what kind of work will you do?” “Can you actually make a living from that?” “But besides that, what do you do with your life?” These were common questions asked of the young actors founders of what has become one of Brazil’s largest comedy troupes—and undoubtedly the most active group in the nation’s capital, playing a pivotal role in building the local theater audience. Collectively, G7 has written and staged over 50 productions in its 25-year history. This entire journey is being celebrated throughout 2026 during the “G7 25th Anniversary Season.”
The comedy “Como Passar Em Concurso Público” is being presented in a full, updated version featuring improvisation, live music, and plenty of audience interaction. The comedy had over 2,700 audience members in just the first two weekend’s show in August! It is, without a doubt, a great comedy!
