For the first time, CCBB hosts a miniature performing arts event. It’s the Encontro de Teatro Lambe-Lambe (Lambe-Lambe Theater Meeting), which premieres in April.

“Lambe-Lambe” is the name Brazilian people used to call the old way of making photographs on the streets. The equipment used for that became a modern tool in contemporary animation theater.

On April 28 and 29, twenty-two miniature shows – eighteen national and four international -, pocket shows, artistic interventions and a exhibition of Lambe-Lambe portraits are set to take place at CCBB. The festival features the presence of Denise dos Santos, considered one of the creators of the box theater (aka magic box) in Brazil. Also called mini-theater among other names – it appeared in Brazil in 1989, and spread to countries like Mexico, Argentina, Chile and France.
