President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Mr. José Maria Pereira Neves
The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, Mr. José Maria Pereira Neves, came to Brazil for the inauguration of President Lula and on the morning of December 31, 2022, he received members of the press for a press conference.
The event took place at Hotel B, in the Setor Hoteleiro Norte in Brasilia. Representatives of Brazilian and foreign newspapers and media outlets were received by the ambassador of Cabo Verde in Brazil. Mr. José Pedro M. Chandre D’Oliveira . Everyone was taken to one of the hotel’s meeting rooms and after the journalists arrived, President José Maria Pereira Neves arrived and the event began.

The ambassador of Cabo Verde in Brazil, Mr. José Pedro M. Chandre D’Oliveira, opened the press conference and gave the floor to President José Maria Pereira Neves, who began the interview registering his condolences for the death of King Pelé. Then he made a presentation about his country and about the good relations it has with Brazil. He said he believes that Brazil’s relations with African countries will grow under Lula’s government.
The journalists asked questions to President José Maria Pereira Neves, who responded about economy, tourism, Human Rights and diplomacy. Everyone received information material about Cabo Verde, which is a well-known tourist destination, especially for Europeans.
On January 4th, President José Maria Pereira Neves announced that Cape Verde paid tribute to King Pelé by naming the country’s soccer stadium after the player.
