The Embassy of Indonesia celebrated the 79th anniversary of its country’s Armed Forces by hosting a grand dinner on the evening of September 26 at the Clube da Aeronáutica (Air Force Club) in the North Club Sector of Brasília.
The guests were welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Edi Yusup, the Indonesian Defense Attaché, Colonel Humaidi Syarif Romas and their wives, both Mrs. Senny Syahfinar and Mrs. Wenny Hermeiningsih Rachmaningrum.
The beautiful Indonesian-style decoration of the Air Force Club’s social hall already hinted at the wonderful celebration that would take place that evening. Banners with images of beautiful Indonesian landscapes conveyed the joy and history of this unique country. A band played hits from international and Brazilian music and guests were able to take special photos and make fun videos to remember the important celebration.
Brazilian government officials, foreign ambassadors, Defense Attachés from several countries, journalists and businessmen attended the event. After everyone arrived, the event began with a beautiful opening performance by Indonesian dancers, announcing the entrance of Ambassador Edi Yusup, Defense Attaché Colonel Humaidi Syarif Romas and their wives into the social area.
Two dancers performed a typical Indonesian dance and were applauded for the beauty of the show.
After the dance performance, the band of the Marine Corps Group of Brasília played the national anthems of Brazil and Indonesia. The band performs at important events held in the states of Tocantins and Goiás, as well as in the Federal District.
After the national anthems, the Indonesian ambassador, Mr. Edi Yusup, gave an opening speech for the event. He welcomed everyone and emphasized the good relations that his country has with Brazil. The Indonesian Defense Attaché, Colonel Humaidi Syarif Romas, also gave a speech and highlighted the importance of his country’s Armed Forces, which carry out various surveillance and defense operations in that region of Asia. The speeches were warmly applauded and everyone was able to watch a video about the Indonesian Armed Forces.
The celebration continued with a beautiful presentation of a typical Indonesian dance, performed by a talented dancer.
The mystique and ancient mysteries of Indonesia were conveyed by the beautiful movements of the artist, who performed to the impressive music typical of that exotic Asian country. The dance performance was warmly applauded by everyone.
The guests were invited to enjoy a celebratory dinner with typical dishes from Indonesia and Brazil.
In an atmosphere of joy and fellowship, everyone enjoyed the gastronomic variety and delicious desserts. To complete the special moment of the dinner, Colonel Romas’ wife, Mrs. Wenny Hermeiningsih Rachmaningrum, began a special musical performance singing beautiful international songs with talent. Her quality performance pleased everyone and added even more quality to the celebratory dinner.
The Indonesian Defense Attaché, Colonel Humaidi Syarif Romas, is very well-liked by the diplomatic corps in Brasilia for his cheerful personality and his talent for music and dance. He treated everyone to a beautiful music and dance performance, singing international pop hits as well as Brazilian samba. The cheerful rhythms made everyone dance and sing in a very celebratory atmosphere. The Indonesian Ambassador, Mr. Edi Yusup, also joined in the dances and together with Colonel Romas gave a great example of Soft Power!
