“Mulheres da Lagoa” (Women of the Lagoon): Performance and Living History
In the small village of Lagolândia, in Pirenópolis-Go, the “Mulheres da Lagoa” (Women of the Lagoon) bring to life a rich tapestry of traditions and narratives. Founded in the 1920s by Dona Dica, also known as Santa Dica, a community leader and healer, the place is the stage for performances that reveal these women’s own stories and their deep roots in local culture.
The show delves into the performance of women engaged in popular traditions, highlighting the theatre of non-actresses.
