The Embassy of India in Brasilia promoted on November 26 2020 a meeting with Brazilian media outlet representatives to participate in the event “India-Brazil : Strengthening Partnerships in Pharmaceutical Sector” . The event, was organized in association with the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) and had the presence of Indian and Brazilian Government dignitaries including those from the National Sanitary Surveillance Agency (ANVISA). The event also promoted meetings between Indian and Brazilian companies. At the same date, the embassy also celebrated the Constitution Day of India.

1. India, in the field of pharmaceuticals, has made its presence significantly in the global market by the turn of the century after becoming self-sufficient in the previous century. The Indian Pharmaceutical industry through robust quality management system and being sensitive to provide medicines at an affordable price has acquired reputation as the provider of standard, safe and efficacious medicines across the globe and evolved as “Pharmacy of the World” with supplies over 220 different markets health care needs, almost all the generics. India has the distinction of saving hundreds of millions of populations from the dreaded diseases like HIV, Malaria & Tuberculosis and known for its quality & affordable medicines.

 

 

 

2. India is the 4th largest formulations exporter by volume and the 10th largest by value in the world, besides being the largest exclusive generic exporter by value. India has nine of its Generic manufacturers among the top 25 Global manufacturers.

 

 

 

3. India is the largest provider of generic drugs globally. Indian pharmaceutical sector supplies over 50% of global demand for various vaccines, 40% of generic demand in the US and 25% of all medicine in the UK.

 

 

 

4. India enjoys an important position in the global pharmaceuticals sector. The country also has a large pool of scientists and engineers with a potential to steer the industry ahead to greater heights. Presently, over 80% of the anti-retroviral drugs used globally to combat AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) are supplied by Indian pharmaceutical firms.

 

 

 

5. Market Size: The Indian pharmaceutical sector is expected to grow to US$ 100 billion, while medical device market is expected to grow US$ 25 billion by 2025. Pharmaceuticals export from India stood at US$ 20.70 billion in the Financial Year 2019-20. Pharmaceutical export includes bulk drugs, intermediates, drug formulations, biologicals, AYUSH and herbal products and surgical.

 

 



 


 


 


    After the end of the Pharmaceutical Sector event, ambassador Suresh K. Reddy started the celebration of the Constitution Day of India. He explained to the media outlet representatives the importance of the constitution for his country. A Embaixada da Índia em Brasília promoveu no dia 26 de novembro de 2020 um encontro com representantes brasileiros de vários segmentos de comunicação para participarem do evento “Índia-Brasil: Fortalecendo Parcerias no Setor Farmacêutico”. O evento foi organizado em parceria com o Conselho de Promoção de Exportações Farmacêuticas da Índia (Pharmexcil) e teve palestras de dignitários do governo indiano e brasileiro, incluindo da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA). Em seguida ao evento ocorreram reuniões entre empresas indianas e brasileiras.


 


Os convidados foram recebidos pelo novo embaixador da Índia no Brasil, Sr. Suresh K. Reddy e outros diplomatas indianos.
