Under the co-chairmanship of Ambassador Bolat Nussupov and former National Congress Senator Ulisses Riedel, the annual meeting of the “Kazakhstan-Brazil” Friendship Forum was held on December 8th at the Kazakhstan Embassy in a hybrid format, along with a press conference.
The event focused on key aspects of the President’s Message to the People of Kazakhstan, “Kazakhstan in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Current Tasks and their Solutions through Digital Transformation,” dated September 8, 2025, as well as the results of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Astana in September of this year. The parties also discussed current issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil, including joint plans for 2026.
During the event, welcoming speeches on behalf of Brazil were delivered by the president and vice-president of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum, Ulisses Riedel and Cassiano Pereira Viana, by the Forum’s executive director, Professor Edelsio Americo, and by the vice-president of the Brazilian Association of Journalists (ABRAJINTER), Silvana Skorzin.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan presented to the guests the progress of the reforms carried out by the country’s leadership within the framework of the Head of State’s annual address, as well as Kazakhstan’s achievements in the areas of domestic policy, development of democracy, socio-economic and constitutional reforms, in addition to digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the main aspects of the development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil in the current year and the intentions to expand them in 2026 were highlighted.
Participants in the event included Osvaldo Condé, a member of the Theosophical Community and writer (Brazil), and the President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Argentina, Commissioner of the Organization of American States (OAS) for Religious Freedom, Imam Marwan Gill (Argentina), who participated in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions from South American countries.
At the initiative of the Brazilian religious community, the meeting participants approved the Astana Declaration for Peace – 2025. At the end of the meeting, the Brazilian participants in the forum expressed their gratitude for the organization of the event and wished success in the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil. Founded in 2022, the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Society (Forum) traditionally holds its meetings at the beginning and end of the year to discuss current cooperation issues.
