The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brasilia hosted guests on the morning of December 12th for the official presentation of the Almaty Aport apple tree, held at the Botanical Garden in the Brazilian capital, with the installation of an information plaque.
From the Brazilian side, participants and speeches included the Executive Secretary of International Relations of the Federal District Government, Mr. Paolo César Chaves; the Deputy Director of the Brasilia Botanical Garden, Ms. Daniella Fernandes Martins dos Anjos Soares; the president of the “Kazakhstan-Brazil” friendship forum, Mr. Ulisses Riedel; and the president of the “Brazil-Kazakhstan” Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Cassiano Viana.

Representatives from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic corps, the friendship society, and local media were also present at the event on that beautiful sunny morning. In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mr. Bolat Nussupov, noted that, like other foreign countries, Kazakhstan now also has the opportunity to present its “calling card” at the Botanical Garden of the Brazilian capital: the Almaty Aport apple trees.

After recounting the history of the origin of the Aport apple variety and emphasizing the sacredness of this species for the people of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh ambassador thanked the Botanical Garden team for the care and attention dedicated to the trees. On behalf of the Government of the Federal District, Mr. Paolo Chaves thanked the Embassy of Kazakhstan for the opportunity to enrich the Botanical Garden’s collection with a new species of tree from Kazakhstan.
According to Mr. Chaves, the Almaty apple trees will give an additional boost to the growing interest in Kazakhstan among visitors to the Botanical Garden, whose numbers are rapidly increasing each year.
After the ceremony, a celebratory cocktail reception began, where apples, sweets, and chocolates from Kazakhstan were enjoyed by all. The ambassador, other Kazakh diplomats, and members of the Kazakh community were congratulated on the success of the beautiful event.
The Brasília Botanical Garden was founded on March 8, 1985. It was the first botanical garden in Brazil with a predominance of the Cerrado ecosystem (Cerrado – territory in Brazil where the savanna biome predominates).
The Botanical Garden covers 5,000 hectares, of which 526 hectares are open to visitors. Rare species of trees and plants are represented in the Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden has a special area called the “Avenue of Nations and States.” It was conceived as a place where trees and plants representative of different countries of the world are gathered (for example, cherry trees from Japan; lavender, olive trees and jasmine from Spain; date palms, olive trees and fig trees from Israel, etc.).
Mr. Pedro Paulo Moreira and other Brazilians at the event received information about the famous apple from Kazakhstan.
Diplomats and members of the Kazakh community were congratulated by the guests.

In the near future, Brazilians will be able to taste the Almaty Aport apple, a magnificent fruit from that beautiful country, and which now has seedlings growing in the Botanical Garden of Brasília!

Embaixada do Cazaquistão apresenta a macieira Almaty Aport em Brasilia!
A Embaixada do Cazaquistão em Brasília recebeu convidados na manhã de 12 de dezembro para a apresentação oficial da macieira Almaty Aport, realizada no Jardim Botânico da capital brasileira, com a instalação de uma placa informativa.
Do lado brasileiro, participaram e discursaram o secretário executivo de Relações Internacionais do Governo do Distrito Federal, Paolo César Chaves, a Diretora-Adjunta Jardim Botânico de Brasilia, Daniella Fernandes Martins dos Anjos Soares, o presidente do fórum de amizade “Cazaquistão-Brasil”, Ulisses Riedel, e o presidente da Câmara de Comércio e Indústria “Brasil-Cazaquistão”, Cassiano Viana. Representantes do Ministério das Relações Exteriores do Brasil, do corpo diplomático, da sociedade de amizade e da mídia local também estavam no evento, naquela bela manhã de sol.
Em seu discurso de boas-vindas, o embaixador do Cazaquistão, Sr. Bolat Nussupov, observou que, assim como outros países estrangeiros, agora o Cazaquistão também tem a oportunidade de apresentar no Jardim Botânico da capital brasileira seu “cartão de visita”: as macieiras da variedade Almaty Aport. Após contar a história da origem das maçãs da variedade Aport e enfatizar a sacralidade dessa espécie para o povo do Cazaquistão, o diplomata cazaque agradeceu à equipe do Jardim Botânico pelo cuidado e atenção dedicados às árvores.
Em nome do Governo do Distrito Federal, o Sr. Paolo Chaves agradeceu à Embaixada do Cazaquistão pela oportunidade de enriquecer o fundo do Jardim Botânico da capital com uma nova espécie de árvore do Cazaquistão. Segundo ele, as macieiras de Almaty darão um impulso adicional ao crescimento do interesse pelo Cazaquistão por parte dos visitantes do Jardim Botânico, cujo número cresce rapidamente a cada ano.
Para referência: o Jardim Botânico de Brasília foi fundado em 8 de março de 1985. Foi o primeiro jardim botânico do Brasil com predominância do ecossistema do Cerrado (Cerrado – território no Brasil onde predomina o bioma savana). A área do Jardim Botânico é de 5.000 hectares, dos quais 526 hectares estão abertos para visitação. No Jardim Botânico estão representadas espécies raras de árvores e plantas.
O Jardim Botânico possui uma área especial chamada “Alameda das Nações e dos Estados”. Ela foi concebida como um local onde estão reunidas árvores e plantas representativas de diferentes países do mundo (por exemplo, cerejeiras de Japão; lavanda, oliveiras e jasmim da Espanha; tamareiras, oliveiras e figueiras de Israel, etc.).
Após a cerimônia, teve início um coquetel de confraternização, onde maçãs, doces e chocolates do Cazaquistão foram degustados por todos. O embaixador e demais diplomatas e membros da comunidade do Cazaquistão foram cumprimentados pelo sucesso do belo evento.
