The German Embassy welcomed guests on the evening of May 22 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the country’s entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The guests were received by the country’s ambassador, Mrs. Bettina Cadenbach, and by the German Defense Attaché, Navy Captain Marco Taedcke.

The reception took place in the embassy’s social halls and open air areas and was attended by military and civilian authorities from the Brazilian government, foreign ambassadors and diplomats, defense attachés from several countries, journalists and prominent figures from Brasília society.

After the guests arrived, the Brazilian and German national anthems were played by the Brazilian army band, followed by Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach  and Captain Marco Taedcke  giving speeches highlighting the historic moment of NATO’s creation and its importance for maintaining peace and ensuring protection for member countries. The speeches received applause from everyone.

After the speeches, the guests enjoyed a buffet with typical German food. A video about NATO’s activities was shown during the event. Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach and Captain Marco Taedcke  received everyone’s congratulations on this important celebration.
