The artist CIDA CARVALHO is known in Brasília DF mainly for her mosaics of various sizes and colors. Her works have been purchased by mosaic art enthusiasts from several countries, such as the United States, Finland, France, Germany and Italy.
Cida Carvalho’s artistic career began more than 25 years ago in the city of Curitiba, state of Paraná, where she completed her technical training in Art History, mosaics, Ancient Paintings and Restorations. The artist specialized in the art of mosaics because of the possibility of creating works of rare beauty, durability and ease of maintenance.
Cida Carvalho sells her works and also creates mosaics to order, having served several clients, including the government of the Federal District. Three of her works adorn the galleries of the Central, 106 and 112 stations of the Brasília subway, in addition to works in the Botanical Garden, in the Lago Sul neighborhood of Brasília.
ART ON THE TRAILS PROJECT (Projeto ARTE NOS TRILHOS)
In 2022, the “ART ON THE TRAILS” Project was carried out to exhibit and donate 3 large mosaic panels to the CIA METROPOLITANA DO DF – METRÔ (Subway) stations, endorsed by the Federal Government through the Rouanet Law and sponsored by the companies “Home Center Campeão da Construção” and “Brasal de Refrigerantes”. The donation of the panels to the Central, 106 Sul and 112 Sul Metro (Subway) Stations characterizes the donation of public art to the DF. In this project, the artist and her group worked with two counterparts. In addition to donating the panels, they created one of the panels almost entirely with empowerment and training workshops for women with disabilities who use wheelchairs and are hearing impaired. The panels are available for public viewing.
In 2012, Cida Carvalho began researching fashion and developing exclusive prints. This is how Brasil Mosaico Arte e Moda was born, responsible for visual arts and developing prints exclusively from mosaic works for scarves, shawls, kimonos and fabrics sold by the meter. Her prints almost always feature regional motifs of fauna, flora and monuments from Brasília and Brazil, making them great souvenirs of our country.
Considering that artistic language can be the basis for client-professional communication, the artist dedicated several years of her career to the so-called Art Therapy, a process that generates increased self-esteem and psychosocial improvement in people. Mrs. Carvalho visited studios and galleries in several countries to absorb different methods and styles of mosaic art to teach her students, as well as to produce her works.
Cida Carvalho is a visual artist, art therapist, mosaicist and cultural producer. She teaches mosaic courses and is a professional recognized by the Ministry of Culture. She is a founding member and president of ACAV (the Candanga Association of Visual Artists of the Federal District), which currently has almost 350 registered artists. She is the art director of CMEDF (the Council of Women Entrepreneurs of the Federal District), a member of the Mercosur Women’s Forum and a member of the International Academy of Art and Culture of the Federal District, occupying the 47th chair of the immortal painter Candido Portinari.
MOSAIC STUDIO CIDA CARVALHO
The artist channeled all her potential into creating the Mosaic Studio, which, in addition to being a mosaic school, would be a space for developing and executing her projects, providing technical consultancy to other professionals in the field, and partnering with architects and engineers.
The Studio is currently fully operational in a beautiful house in a spacious and welcoming location with accessibility, close to the UNICEUB university and elementary and high schools in block 708 of the Asa Norte neighborhood of Brasília. The mosaic studio currently receives classes to learn the mosaic technique, and the artist is available to develop and execute artistic projects in Brazil and abroad.
