The Ministry of Defense, through the Secretariat of Defense Products (Seprod), participated in the 3rd edition of the World Defense Show (WDS), from February 8th to 12th, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event focused on the theme “Integration of the Future of Defense,” with presentations of technological innovations in the five operational domains: land, sea, air, space, and security. 

Approximately 600 global companies from the defense supply chain were present at the WDS, including national companies from the Defense Industrial Base (BID), which occupied the “Brazil Pavilion.”

According to the Secretary of Defense Products, Mr. Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, the World Defense Show is one of the largest defense fairs in the Middle East. “In its third year, it has already grown by more than 40% annually, in terms of the number of companies involved and the number of stands installed. The presence of the Secretariat of Defense Products was important to support Brazilian companies in securing important contracts in this region,” he stated. 

The objectives of the Ministry of Defense’s participation were to support the diplomatic advances of the 2023 presidential mission, monitor existing agreements, and integrate Brazilian industry into the Saudi market, the third largest defense budget in the world, which is experiencing a moment of record expansion through the “Vision 2030” project.

The event was held in a hybrid format, comprising exhibitions and real-world demonstrations of technological capabilities; high-level bilateral meetings for cooperation agreements; networking and commercial prospecting for the establishment of joint ventures (partnerships); and monitoring and follow-up of technology transfer and offset agreements.

MD participa de feira de defesa na Arábia Saudita

            O Ministério da Defesa, por meio da Secretaria de Produtos de Defesa (Seprod), participou da 3ª edição da feira World Defense Show (WDS), de 8 a 12 de fevereiro, em Riade, na Arábia Saudita. O evento teve como foco o tema “Integração do Futuro da Defesa”, com apresentação de inovações tecnológicas nos cinco domínios operacionais: terra, mar, ar, espaço e segurança. 

            Estiveram na WDS cerca de 600 empresas globais da cadeia de suprimentos de defesa, incluindo companhias nacionais da Base Industrial de Defesa (BID), que ocuparam o “Pavilhão Brasil”. 

            De acordo com o Secretário de Produtos de Defesa, Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, a World Defense Show é uma das maiores feiras de defesa do Oriente Médio. “Em seu terceiro ano de realização, já cresceu mais de 40% ao ano, em termos de quantidade de empresas envolvidas e de estandes instalados. A presença da Secretaria de Produtos de Defesa foi importante para apoiar as empresas brasileiras em conseguir contratos importantes nesta região”, afirmou. 

            Os objetivos da participação do Ministério da Defesa foram sustentar os avanços diplomáticos da missão presidencial de 2023, monitorar acordos vigentes e inserir a indústria brasileira no mercado saudita, o terceiro maior orçamento de defesa do mundo, que vive um momento de expansão recorde por meio do projeto “Vision 2030”.

            O evento foi realizado de forma híbrida, compreendendo exposições e demonstrações reais de capacidades tecnológicas; reuniões bilaterais de alto nível para acordos de cooperação; networking e prospecção comercial para estabelecimento de joint ventures (parcerias); e acompanhamento e monitoramento de acordos de transferência de tecnologia e compensação (offset).
