The 68th General Conference of the Agência Internacional de Energia Atómica (IAEA) (International Atomic Energy Agency) took place from September 16 to 20 at the International Center in Vienna/Austria. The event, which gathered representatives from various countries, included participation from the Ministry of Defense, aimed at seeking technological advancement opportunities for the defense industry and the Armed Forces. This year’s main theme was “Atoms4Food – Better Agriculture for Better Life,” highlighting the use of nuclear energy to improve agriculture and food security.
During the conference, plenary sessions and scientific committees addressed crucial topics for the development and application of nuclear technology. The simultaneous scientific forum showcased innovations and trends in the sector, fostering discussions on how nuclear energy can contribute to agriculture and food security. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi praised Brazil’s nuclear program. General Grossi emphasized the importance of the partnership between the IAEA and Brazil and highlighted the country’s efforts to expand and consolidate its nuclear program.

Defesa participa da 68ª Conferência Geral da AIEA sobre avanços na tecnologia nuclear
A 68ª Conferência Geral da Agência Internacional de Energia Atômica (AIEA) foi realizada nos dias 16 a 20 de setembro, no Centro Internacional de Viena/Áustria. O evento, que reuniu representantes de diversos países, contou com a participação do Ministério da Defesa, na busca por oportunidades de avanço tecnológico para a indústria de defesa e para as Forças Armadas. A temática principal deste ano foi “Atoms4Food – Better Agriculture for Better Life”, destacando o uso da energia nuclear para melhorar a agricultura e a segurança alimentar.
Durante a conferência, foram realizadas plenários e comitês científicos que abordaram temas cruciais para o desenvolvimento e a aplicação da tecnologia nuclear. O fórum científico, que ocorreu simultaneamente, destacou inovações e tendências no setor, promovendo debates sobre como a energia nuclear pode contribuir para a agricultura e para a segurança alimentar.
