Brazilians cinemas are showing again the movie Oppenheimer, a thriller about the atomic war. The film shows the story of the creation of the weapon that ended the Second World War but started a path of fear in human mankind. The movie is being pointed as favorite to the Oscar 2024.
Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an epic IMAX thriller that takes audiences to the heart of the pulsing paradox experienced by the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar-winning actor Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, one of the founding commissioners of the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
The cast also includes Academy Award-nominated Florence Pugh as psychiatrist Jean Tatlock; Benny Safdie as physical scientist Edward Teller; Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber; and Josh Hartnett portrays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.
Oppenheimer also stars Academy Award winner Rami Malek, and marks yet another partnership between Nolan and eight-time Oscar-nominated actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.
The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Matthew Modine (Batman: The Dark Knight Rises).
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin (1927-2021). The production is signed by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven, from Atlas Entertainment, and Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer was filmed in IMAX 65mm and large-format 65mm combined, including, for the first time, sections of black-and-white analog cinematography in IMAX.
Christopher Nolan’s films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, have grossed more than $5 billion at the worldwide box office, and have earned 11 Academy Awards and 36 Golden Oscar nominations, including two for Best Picture.
