On April 3rd, artists Clara Telles and Gabriel Guedes will present a unique show at the Clube do Choro in Brasília, offering a deep dive into songs from Clube da Esquina, avant-garde MPB, and original compositions. Conceived and directed by the duo, the show uses original arrangements to explore how fundamental repertoires of Brazilian music remain alive, reinterpreted, and vibrant in the present.
Children of musicians with remarkable careers—Aloísio Brandão and Beto Guedes—Clara and Gabriel transform their musical heritage into creative material, going beyond mere homage or citation. The result is a performance that articulates memory, invention, and their own artistic identity, in contemporary interpretations marked by lyricism, technical refinement, and aesthetic freedom.
The repertoire moves between affections and estrangement, melody and word, song and speech, weaving together references that also include classical music and rock. Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd appear as influences incorporated into the project’s language, which places the creative process at the center of the scene. The aim is to build a space for expanded artistic investigation, where different times, styles, and generations coexist and transform into new songs.
