The work of Portuguese plastic artist Alexandre Farto, “Incisão”, is on display at CAIXA Cultural Brasília until March 3rd, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am to 9pm
The exhibition displays his preferred techniques (cutting, subtracting and peeling the surface) to create a contrast plane as a starting point for exploring the notion of construction and reconstruction.
Considered brutal and complex, the visual poetry expresses a reflection on the themes of identity, interaction between human communities and the survival in the chaos of the contemporary world. This particular look arose from the influences that Mr. Farto experienced in his childhood amid of the transformations resulted from the intense urban development that occurred in Portugal in the 1980s and 1990s.
The exhibition shows wooden elements rescued from the urban environment to design a symbolic city with several layers and several plans of reading.
