*Tropicalismo was a counterculture cultural movement that emerged in Brazil in the 1960s. This movement manifested itself mainly in music, but also had representatives in other areas of culture, such as theater, cinema and visual arts. The tropicalistas sought to renew the Brazilian cultural scene by denouncing the political and social reality of Brazil. His allegorical songs were the way he found to highlight the country’s problems and escape the censorship that existed during the Military Dictatorship period (Ditadura Militar).
With text and direction by Tuca Andrada and Maria Paula Costa Rêgo, the project was inspired by the anthology “Torquatália”, organized by Paulo Roberto Pires.
