In Don Quixote, the caracters Kitri and Basilio played by the dancers Anna Sobeshenskaya and Sergei Sokolov bring the hispanic aspect as a fundamental caracteristic to the roles, with their cheerful horsemen and playful young ladies, which goe completly against their country culture, the Soviet Union.

The ballet version of “Don Quixote” does not only proves Cervantes geniality, but also Marius Petipa’s, who has proven that coreographies can be beautiful and stunning without the usual strict standards. Paquita originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier to music by Édouard Deldevez and Ludwig Minkus. Paquita’s sucess mainly because of it’s joyful spanish dances.
